CISDUS Holds Online “Conference for Chinese Education in Central and Western Thailand and Forum on Confucius Institute Development”
On 21July, Confucius Institute of Suan Dusit University at Suphanburi (CISDUS) successfully held an online video meeting for the “Conference for Chinese Education in Central and Western Thailand and Forum on Confucius Institute Development,” honoring those institutions that have made outstanding contribution in international Chinese education since last year and collecting suggestions and ideas for a creative development of Confucius Institute in this new era. Dr. Waranee Vessoontorntep, Vice President of Suan Dusit University and member of the CISDUS’s board, anchored and addressed the meeting, where more than 50 schools of primary, secondary and higher education in the central and western parts of Thailand showed up.
During the conference, honors were awarded to such institutions as Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Muban Chombueng Rajabhat University, Kanchanaburi Chinese School, Ratwittaya School, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chinese program, Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Chomsurang Upatham School and Jianhua School. When the forum started, representatives from those honor winners spoke one after another, describing what they had done for Chinese education and offering innovations for the CISDUS’s development. Some other representatives also voiced their experiences in line with their own situation of Chinese education, telling the students’ urgent demand of Chinese learning and calling for further cooperation with the CISDUS.
Up till now, the CISDUS is the only Confucius institute in western Thailand, thus shouldering the key task of promoting the Chinese education there. With this conference and forum concluded, it is expected that the Chinese education institutions in the western and even central parts of Thailand can have a platform for brain storming and a model to follow so that a sound basis can be built for the creative development of Chinese education.
